Happy Canada Day to you and yours from Whiskey Jack head office. We thank you for supporting our music over the years. It continues to give us hope that some day we'll once again stand on a stage, sing our songs and share our stories.
In the meantime, we're doing what we can to keep the dream alive by using the tools and opportunities available to us. This week, the "new" Whiskey Jack assembled 6' apart, played a lot of tunes and reminisced about the biggest and most thrilling gig of our lives. On July 1, 27 years ago, it was an absolutely perfect Canadian summer night when Stompin' Tom walked on the enormous Parliament Hill stage to the cheers of hundreds of thousands of cheering, flag waving Canadians. Walking right behind him, huge grins on our faces and our instruments in hand, was Whiskey Jack.
Our video producer Douglas John Cameron set up his equipment at our jam session and recorded a version of the song Tom sang that night in 1993...a song that he must have written specifically for this moment, "It's Canada Day, Up Canada Way". This is our 2020 heartfelt version. We hope you enjoy it.
And then there is this 1993 version, a perfect salute to our great country.
Stay safe and we'll see you sometime...
