Horseshoe Tavern Show - the day after

First, it was a wild night at the “Shoe”.  300+ fans was impressive but what was noticed by many was the youth of the crowd outnumbered the old geezers…and if that wasn't impressive enough, I rec'd this message from Bill Heffernan, a long time fan, with a bit of grey on his head, a man who knows what he speaks:

"I want to let you know that many of the audience certainly looked a whole lot like you and me ...BUT, there were many younger folks there too-- and they knew every word to all the Stompin' Tom songs. I also met former students who were just in high school when I was retiring, and teachers who are still teaching ..there still is hope Duncan,

And the highlight of the night for me, other than your whole show, was these  two gorgeous young women directly in my purview to the stage, who between them combined would be lucky to have 40 years of age knew not only every single Stompin' Tom song, but also knew every word to Wilf Carter's and jumped for joy when Doogie mentioned Gordie Lightfoots name in the introduction to Alberta Bound and then they sang along on every note ....

You are far more Captain Canada than Wayne Gretzky ever was or ever will be!

I don't buy into the Captain Canada moniker with Charlie Angus out there leading the way but I do confess to getting fired up by all this.  That had to have been the loudest  version of “Oh Canada” I've ever heard.  Thanks to Sean Cullen for his wit and for inspiring us all to stand and be heard.
