Fans of good old fashion Canadian country music don't often get a chance to hear the songs they love in one show, performed by those "who were actually there"! That is about to change. The Good Brothers, Bruce, Brian and Larry have invited Whiskey Jack to bring our show, Stories & Songs of Stompin' Tom Connors to their stage, Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Regent Theatre in Picton Ontario.
It'll be a night of Fox on the Run, Sudbury Saturday Night, Hot Knife Boogie, The Hockey Song and more.
The number of years on the stage are impressive numbers: over 50 years for The Goods, over 40 years for The Jack and over 60 years for Stompin' Tom. The show is called Canadian Country Music Legends...Live. Tickets available here.
The next day, June 16, Whiskey Jack travels to Tillsonburg Ontario to sing one of Tom's first hit songs simply called Tillsonburg. The famous line "my back still aches, when I hear that word" will be belted out with feeling (along with all of Tom's hits) at Turtlefest 2018. This is a free event sponsored by the Town of Tillsonburg.
July 1 is the best day to be a Canadian and the best day to sing Stompin' Tom songs. That's one of the reasons we're so excited to be traveling to Tom's homestead in Skinners Pond Prince Edward Island for Canada Day, 2018. We are headlining the annual Stompin' Tom Fest at the new Cultural Centre. This is a good year to visit "the island" don't you think?
We've invited one of Canada's most excellent country and folk singer, Cindy Church to join us or a couple of shows this summer. Besides having an award winning career on her own, she's also a celebrated member of Quartette (with Sylvia Tyson) and Lunch At Allens (with Ian Thomas and Murray McLaughlan). You'll hear Cindy sing songs by Stompin' Tom as well as from her own catalogue at the July 1 show in Skinners Pond and our show on August 3, 2018 at the Stratford Summer Music Festival.
We can always be found at Stompin' Tom's web site, www.stompintom.com
