Whiskey Jack - Highlights From 41 Years In Canadian Folk/Roots Music

Free Times Cafe, Toronto, On

On Friday, October 12, 2018, veteran Canadian All Star band Whiskey Jack, will perform highlights from their storied career and segments from their touring show, Stories & Songs of Stompin’ Tom, at The Free Times Cafe, Toronto, On. This Toronto based band, a mainstay on the national music scene since 1977, appeared weekly on the CBC’s Tommy Hunter Show in the 1980’s and in subsequent years, toured/recorded often with “the other Tom”, Stompin’ Tom Connors. They have six critically acclaimed albums to their credit, including their collaborative 1993 recording with Mr. Canada, Dr. Stompin’ Tom… Eh?. This recording project was followed by a national tour.

Whiskey Jack is: Duncan Fremlin, founding member of Whiskey Jack, Stompin’ Tom’s long time band leader and raconteur on vocals and banjo; Cindy Church, Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and award winning vocalist; Douglas John Cameron, two time Juno Award nominee and multi instrumentalist; Randy Morrison, Five Time Canadian National Fiddle Champion; Eric Jackson, one of Stompin’ Tom’s favourite bass players.

They’re stacking the deck for this show, celebrating the definitive, if not essential Canadian and Whiskey Jack soundtrack with songs like Hockey Song, Maple Sugar, Someday Soon, and more! This is a rare opportunity to experience the band and guest Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee, Cindy Church in a small intimate setting. Reserve your seats now. It’ll be like hearing them in your living room.

Come early and dine at this legendary cafe, home to the best Canadian acoustic music. Selections on the Middle Eastern/Canadian/Jewish menu will appeal to all dietary needs.
