Last Saturday, Whiskey Jack performed their 3rd show on their 2017 Canada 150 tour and what a show it was! A real Sudbury Saturday Night. The audience was loud and rambunctious as only a Stompin' Tom audience can be. Dancing in the aisles...hoots and hollers...clapping and whistles... all in appreciation for the songs and stories.
Near the end of the night, just before we closed it all out with a rousing version of Sudbury Saturday Night, we spotted a real Canadian girl in the audience...a real Canadian beauty. Her name was Nicole and she accepted our invitation to join us on stage as we serenaded her by singing Tom's great song, "Real Canadian Girl". The guys in the band were each treated to a kiss on the cheek. Thanks Nicole. She favoured us later with this very wonderful email.
"Had sooooo much fun at the Sudbury theatre April 15. The band Whiskey Jack was fantastic, so friendly during their show I felt so proud to be Canadian . I was singing every songs I loved it. I was honoured when they asked me to come on stage for the song of Canadian Girl. Thank you so very much I love all you guys. If you are ever in Sudbury use my email and come for supper. I love to cook especially for special people. You will always have a special place in my heart❤"
We thank the great Sudbury fiddler Donnie Reed for filling in for Randy on this night. We also appreciate Douglas Cameron driving all the way from Carling on a rainy night for the show. Great performance as usual. And of course, I had to make a pilgrimage to the statue!
